Cage Matches
Twenty feet of steel, no way out, and one man who's want's desperately to tear your arms off. Scared? You should be, a cage matches are the kind of thing that end careers. The steel is unforgiving, it makes no friends, and if you want to come out on top you have to make the confines of this death trap work for you, not against you. So how do you come out of this fight alive? That's not an easy task, but read on and maybe you will find a bit of help.
Cage matches are more about luck than skill. Be in the right place at the right time and get out of the cage as soon as possible. There is no great strategy for a cage match, simply remember that your opponent will be hot on your heels as you try to climb the cage, so make sure that he is good and beaten before attempting an escape. Using your finisher before attempting the climb will almost garauntee your victory.
There is also the possibilty of exiting the cage through the front door. This is accomplished by grappling with your opponent while he is in the corner nearest the door. This begins a mini game similar to the one used to climb over the cage, but you have to compete against your adversary with him getting the chance to grab your leg and drag you back inside.
Remember also that you cant be disqualified so don't be afraid to use the cage as a weapon, hard irish whipping your opponent into it. Try removing turnbuckle pads to add extra damage when you send your opponent into the corner. In Hell in a Cell matches there are a few grapples that can be taken advantage of outside the ring that involve the cage as well. In these match types you should also make good use of lack of manueverability your opponent will suffer between the ring and the cage. Hem them in and pound on them.
With the addition of a third or a fourth opponent your odds actually improve if you plan carefully. Make sure your opponents are distracted by one another, and take the first opportunity availableto get out. Most of the time in a fatal four way, two of the four will be distracted by one another and you will only have to worry about one other guy. Triple threats are even easier, store a finisher and wait, take as litlle damage as possible and try to beat down both opponentes equally. When one of the two gets an upperhand on the other wait for them to hit their finisher and mop up the last guy standing. Bolt for the cage as soon as you can and climb!
Tag Team matches offer more opportunities for victory, but there is one strategy that works really well. Although it may seem a bit odd, let one of your opponents exit the cage first while you and your partner stay inside. Since in a tag team cage match both members of the tag team must exit the cage, by allowing one opponent out you can easily gain an advantage on the remaining member of your enemies team. Two on one, your team can pummell the lone wrestler as long as you feel necessary then climb out at your leisure.
Other variations to the cage match include the Armagedon in a cell, and the Elimination Chamber. Both pit you against five other opponents and have their own challenges that must be faced.
In Armaggedon in a Cell all six competitors start in the ring at the same time and the first to score a pinfall wins. The best advice I can give you here is to stay inside the ring at all times to make sure you are near enough to break up a pinfall attempt.
For the Elimination Chamber, two men start and at set intervals the four other opponents enter with the last man standing picking up the win. Since entry into the Chamber is random you can't predict when you will join the action. Here what you should do is hang back and conserve your strength. Mix it up with others too much and you could take some fierce damge early and give up the match.
The main thing when trapped within the confines of a steel cage is to always be aware of your surroundings and make quick use of every advantage that comes along. No matter how small that opportunity may seem, inside the confines of a steel cage, you will need every friend you can get.
